The North Dakota Department of Environmental Quality (NDDEQ) received a report of a Harmful Algal Bloom (HAB) on Stober Lake in Sheridan County. A water sample indicated toxin levels are above the reporting limit.

As a result of this testing, the NDDEQ is issuing a Harmful Algal Bloom ADVISORY for Stober Lake.

Blue-green algae can produce cyanotoxins which may cause serious health effects in people and animals. Signage will be posted near public access points (see attached).

The NDDEQ will continue to monitor the waterbody every other week until sample results indicate toxin levels are low.

For more information on HABs, visit our webpage: https://www.deq.nd.gov/WQ/3_Watershed_Mgmt/8_HABS/Habs.aspx. Check out our StoryMap for information on all reported HABs activities in North Dakota.
